RESTORATION
Since the founding of The Friends of Chicksands Priory, the interior of the Priory has been renovated and restored, first by the Friends themselves, a dedicated band of men and women who protected the building from the worst weather could throw at it and stop the decay.
Then in 1997 the MOD invested in the restoration of the whole Priory, employing artisan builders with the help and knowledge of English Heritage. The project was finished the following year in 1998.
The building was officially opened as the DISC officers mess on 17th September 1998 and the Friends were asked to open it to the public. The Friends re-started tours for the public on Easter Sunday 1999 and the Priory has been opened annually every year since between April-October.
